Roja Bagherian

Roja Bagherian is an Iranian painter and illustrator based in Austria. Her work reflects her lived experiences on paper and canvas. Her artworks emerge from moments and simple experiences of everyday life—experiences that while deeply personal also carry shared human qualities and therefore create a connection with the viewer.

As a woman in Iranian society, she narrates female lived experience through a personal and multilayered perspective. At times, this narrative takes shape through the stitching together of memories and the creation of collages made of color and thread; at other times, it appears in the form of drawing and painting. In her body of work, memory, personal experience and womanhood intertwine and are transformed into a visual language.
